Fly Tying Tools 

Dyna-King- We tie a lot of flies at Glenn River and we find ourselves tying on a Dyna-King vise more than half of the time.  We have several different models, and find the workmanship to be excellent.

Rite Bobbins- are adjustable tension bobbins made by Bill Merg of Merco Products of the U.S.A.  He makes and distributes 4 different models which will equip you to tie everything from saltwater  to micro-midge patterns.  I tie exclusively with the "Rite Bobbin" owning several dozen in total- which I leave spooled and adjusted on the tying bench.  Bill doesn't have a website, but you can call him or write to the following:  Merco Products; 1525 Norland Dr.; Sunnyvale,CA 94087  (408-245-7803).

Fly Boxes 

"Tach-It"- magnetic fly boxes and fly tying products are extremely useful and well designed products.  We fish without a fly vest, and find the small magnetic fly box to be essential for midges, small nymphs, scuds, streamers and even parachute dries.  The box is compact and easy to use.  The fly tying "Tach-It" standing magnet is perfect for the tying bench and has thousands of uses.  It is complete with a hackle and hook gage as well as a small ruler.

Richard Neuman- has been drawing most of his life. In 1990, after retirement from the corporate art design field, he began his own art studio. Richard has a unique way of transforming images of everyday life into universally appealing vignettes in a manner that has been compared to Norman Rockwell. Teton Reels of USA-In our opinion, the best all around Trout and Panfish reel for your money, made in the USA.  We fish several Tioga's and Teton reels and stand behind the quality and service.

Rods

Gary Loomis of USA-We build many of our own fly rods to "tweak" them for specific performance capabilities.  G-Loomis "sticks" are unbelievably powerful and yet able to deliver delicacy as well.

Publications

Midwest Fly Fishing Magazine-We fish for trout predominately in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.  Because of our Midwestern trout fishing interest we enjoy reading the Midwest Fly Fishing Magazine.  The folks behind the magazine are very user friendly and pack the little paper back magazine with feature stories, side articles, upcoming events, product reviews, classifieds and plenty of fly tying related information.  Visit their website to subscribe or if you are in the Toledo area you can stop in and visit our friends at Port Royal Fly Fishing Outfitter (419-537-1491) to get your copy off the sales rack.  

Clubs

Buckeye United Fly  Fishers- B.U.F.F. has been in existence since 1975 and a major influence in the growing popularity of fly fishing in the greater Cincinnati area and tristate area (Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky).   As a club, they have nearly 250 members and conduct workshops, training sessions, community service,  and meetings frequently.  As a part of their ongoing educational program to their members and the public, B.UF.F. provides an all day Fly Fishing Sports Show every February called Cabin Fever Relief Fly Fishing Show.  The show gets bigger and better every year.  Visit this web-site for more information.  See you at the show!
