Wayne Luallen
has been confirmed for a 1 day class only on Saturday March 31, 2012.
Wayne is a world renown Salmon Fly Dresser and has
impeccable tying skills stressing technique and proper thread control in his
classes over speed and quantity of patterns tied. Wayne and his wife
Donna will be in town from California to visit Chris & Judy Helm and we are
fortunate enough to have nailed him down for a 1 day workshop.
Wayne and I have spoken and he is designing a workshop which will feature Trout
patterns stressing thread control and proper techniques.
Please don't expect to tie flies at productions speed, leave with a full box of
tied flies or learn some new magical pattern!

Fall 2012- Fly-Tying Workshop held at
Chris
Helm's Shop
(workshop requires several years of tying experience please)
Conversations with
George Daniel are taking place
for a Fall 2012 workshop-TBA.
The thinking currently is to build a workshop similar to
the session we built with Lefty Kreh years ago. George would walk
you through a handful of what I call "meat & potato" fly patterns (or flies that
simply catch fish) showing you styles, techniques, triggers- etc. for catching
"fish" vs. many flies that we tie which are designed to catch "people".
George would also perform casting outside and give both a small group lesson as
well as spend a few minutes critiquing "your own" cast individually offering a
Pro tip for you to work on. Lastly, perhaps over lunch, George
would show you one of his very informative Video/Slideshow
presentations on Dynamic Nymphing (the topic of his new book).

anytime. We will post dates, times, costs- etc once we work it out.

 George
Daniel: George began fly fishing at age
6 while growing up in Potter County, PA.
Many of the small freestone streams flowing
through “God’s Country” became George’s
outdoor laboratory and is where he developed
his passion for fly fishing. Early in his
teens, George and his family relocated into
the Centre region where fly fishing legends
George Harvey, Joe Humphreys, and Charles
Meck resided. The rich angling history in
the Centre region along with its resident
legends was a fruitful area for a young lad
wanting to expand his fly fishing knowledge.
At age 16, George eventually crossed paths
with his fly fishing idol, Joe Humphreys at
a local shop. Joe made George a promise that
he would find time in his busy schedule to
fish with him one afternoon. Twenty
pestering phone calls later from George, Joe
agreed upon a time when he would take George
fishing. From that first time on the water,
Joe took George under his wing as an
apprentice and spent countless hours with
George, on and off the water, providing
angling knowledge that has allowed George to
successfully enter the fly fishing industry.
Currently, George works for TCO Fly Shop,
the largest fly shop in the east. The State
College location is where he spends most of
his time acting as the assistant manager and
director of education. George’s passion is
spending time conducting educational classes
for TCO and traveling the country conducting
clinics for various groups and
organizations.
George is a former competitor for FF Team
USA and currently is part of the coaching
staff for both youth and adult teams. Some
of his accomplishments include being a two
time (back to back) national fly fishing
champion and ranked as high as fifth in the
World. He logs over 150 days a year on trout
waters near and far from his home.
George’s first book, “Dynamic Nymphing” will
be released January 2012 by Stackpole Books.
George currently resides along his favorite
stream with his wife, Amidea and their two
children, Evangeline and Logan, along with
their golden retrievers that answer to the
names Madison and Helios.
