Marvin Nolte
Marvin is considered by many to be one of the best salmon fly tiers in the
world. He has been tying flies since 1974 (salmon flies since
1984). He enjoys conducting courses in fly-tying from beginner to advanced
as well as aquatic entomology. Marvin has taught workshops in the US,
Denmark, England, Holland, Ireland, Norway and Scotland.
Marvin is the 1995 Federation of Fly Fisher's Buz Buszek
Memorial Fly Tying Award- the nation's highest award for fly-tying.
He is a contributor to Tying the Classic Salmon Fly (Michael Radencich) and The
Atlantic Salmon Fly (Judith Dunham). He has published articles
in Fly Fisherman, Fly Tyer, and Fly Fishing & Fly Tying (UK).
Marvin is the designer and dresser of the Grainger Collection, the largest
collection of framed classic salmon flies in the world.
We are still working out the details with Marvin...........but
the current thinking is:
1 day will be a Full Dress Married Wing Classic Atlantic Salmon Fly workshop
where Marvin will demonstrate his style and techniques while tying a pattern
with students of Intermediate / Advanced tying ability.
1 day will be a Trout fly pattern workshop where Marvin will demonstrate
TECHNIQUES specifically dedicated toward tying a handful of popular trout
patterns with students of ALL tying ability.
These classes are on a first-come-first-served basis...........feel free to sign
up for BOTH workshops!
