GR-Sculpin "Fly-Kit"tm
NOTE: Finished fly on the left before coloring with a marking pen. Finished fly on the right has been colored with a marking pen. Top fly shows the "belly" of the fly which is left un-marked to reflect a natural "yellowish" color. Sculpins and leeches have been popular patterns of fly fishers for many years. Numerous patterns exist, many with very realistic features. Our pattern is a combination of methods and materials that we have learned from Oliver Edwards of the United Kingdom and Joe of Canada. Oliver’s engineering efforts helped us design a realistic imitation. Joe’s unique use of traditional “egg” yarn for his streamers and sculpin patterns lead us to select egg yarn instead of wool or another material- for the head cavity. Note; our fly is tied “hook up” and will fish this way if weighted during the tying process If you fish woolly buggers, Clouser's or big streamers give this pattern a try. Each "Fly-Kit"tm includes:
